Why is washing your hands so complicated? I’ve been in healthcare my whole career and I’m still amazed that I have to train people on how to wash their hands correctly. I actually trained my adult children a few months ago so I can understand that most people have not had any formal hand washing training. But since it’s one of the most effective ways of preventing the spread of infections why don’t we train kids each year in school?
A five minute training at the beginning of each school year would go a long ways towards helping prevent infections. And since they are kids train them by showing how grouse it is to not wash your hands after going to the bathroom or the fact that gas nozzles are one of the most germ ridden items alongside money. My friends always made fun of the fact that I keep baby wipes in my car but they are not laughing now!
The CDC has a few videos on handwashing for kids but I think they are good for all age groups.
